Corrections are the most useful thing you can send. If a figure here does not match what the manufacturer publishes, tell us and we will check the source.
What is worth sending
- A correction. A capacity, dimension or mounting requirement that does not match the manufacturer's published figure. Include the source if you have it and we will compare.
- A product we should look at. Particularly one that publishes specifications properly — that is rarer than it should be in this category.
- A pile we have not written about. If there is something in your garage that none of the mess pages covers, that is a genuine gap and worth knowing.
What we cannot help with
We cannot tell you whether your specific ceiling will hold a specific rack. That depends on your joists, your spans and what has been done to them, and it is a question for a structural engineer. The arithmetic that informs the question is on how much weight a garage ceiling holds — but reading a table is not the same as an engineer looking at your garage, and we will not pretend otherwise.
How corrections work
We check the source. If we are wrong, we fix it, mark the correction, and update the page's visible date. The full process is on our editorial policy.
