Privacy policy
What this site collects, what it does not, and what happens when you click a link out of it.
This policy explains what happens to information when you use railandrafter.com. It is written to be read rather than to be legally impressive.
What we collect
If you use the contact form: the name, email address, subject and message you type. We use them to reply to you and for nothing else. They are sent to our own mailbox by email; we do not build a marketing list from them and we do not sell them.
If you just read the site: analytics, described below. There is no account, no login, and nothing to sign up for.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent personal information.
- We do not run a newsletter or a marketing list.
- We do not ask for payment details — nothing is sold on this site directly.
- We do not host advertising networks or third-party ad trackers.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages get read and which buy links get clicked. That tells us what is useful and what is not.
It uses cookies and collects the usual aggregate information: pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser, and how you arrived. We also record a custom event when an outbound buy link is clicked — which link, on which page. We do not use analytics to identify individuals and have no mechanism to do so.
Google processes this data under its own terms. If you would rather not be counted, browser settings and extensions that block analytics work here as anywhere, and nothing on the site stops working if you use them.
Affiliate links
Buy links route through our own redirect and then to a retailer, with a tracking identifier attached so the retailer can attribute a sale to us. That is how the site is funded — the full statement is on the affiliate disclosure.
Once you land on the retailer's site, their privacy policy applies rather than ours. We receive aggregate commission reporting from them. We do not receive, and cannot see, what you bought or who you are.
Cookies
The cookies on this site come from Google Analytics and from any retailer you click through to. We set none of our own for tracking. Your browser controls let you block or delete them, and the site works fine without them.
Hosting and logs
The site is hosted on Vercel, which keeps standard server logs — IP address, request time, user agent — for operational and security purposes. Contact form submissions are delivered by Microsoft Graph.
Children
This site is aimed at adults buying garage storage. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Your data, and how to ask about it
If you have contacted us and want your message deleted, ask and we will delete it. If you want to know what we hold about you, ask and we will tell you — in practice, for almost everyone, the answer is nothing beyond aggregate analytics that cannot be linked back to you.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. Rail & Rafter is published by Slate Mill Group.
